When Life and Cookies Disappoint

Last night my fortune cookie was without a fortune. It was disappointing, a bit sad, and certainly not what I expected. But there was still much to enjoy in it.

2020 is definitely not what any of us was expecting. It has been filled with disappointment and sadness, loss and uncertainty, worry and fear. But take care to not let that overwhelm you. Acknowledge it, mourn it, process through it, but keep your attention on the One who is faithful and good.

Like my cookie, we donโ€™t know what the future brings. It may hold even greater trials. If it does, we shouldnโ€™t be surprised. Jesus explicitly tells us that we will, not just might, have many troubles in this world. But take heart, our Savior has overcome them all.

Whatever comes, remain surrendered to Him and unified in love, for it is He that takes all things, including what the enemy means for evil, and turns it for good.
